Announcement, December 12, 2011

Ronald Hux, President of Douron Commercial Interiors is pleased to announce the purchase of 10 Painters Mill Road in Owings Mills, a 100,000 square foot building on 7-1/2 acres, to be used as Douron’s new corporate headquarters. When making this announcement, Mr. Hux indicated they are very excited to be relocating in the later part of 2012, just one-half mile from their current location, to being across from the newly announced Foundry Row, just down the street from the new Metro Centre and the redevelopment of the Owings Mills Mall into the new Town Center shopping area. All of the major redevelopment projects in Owings Mills are being performed by outstanding firms, with the future of Owings Mills clearly in focus. The 10 Painters Mill project is no different. “We feel the heritage of this building fits very well with the theme of Foundry Row.”

"Douron's new headquarters adds corporate momentum to the dynamic investments underway in Owings Mills at the Metro Center, redevelopment of the Mall, and the proposed Foundry Row development," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "This is an example of a home-grown Baltimore County company investing in Owings Mills, building on their success and expanding to create a more efficient, effective operation for their customers and their 115 employees."

In 1971, two years after founding Douron, Inc., Eugene Hux built Douron’s current building and corporate headquarters, back when Owings Mills was in it its infancy - Interstate 795 was still being planned and there were only rumors of a mall in Owings Mills. Forty years later, the reigns have passed to his son Ronald Hux, who is excited be a part of the current revitalization of the Owings Mills area. According to Ronald Hux, “Owings Mills has been Douron’s home since 1971 and with this purchase will continue to be for quite some time. “

Currently, Douron is comprised not only of their corporate office building, but several other smaller warehouse locations in Owings Mills as well. Consolidating the various spaces into one contiguous area became a key objective to increase efficiency. “While some of our competitor’s operate without an actual facility – no delivery personnel, no trucks – we feel our foundation as a business and our ongoing success stems from a good solid brick and mortar building and great team members to service our customers. People want to know who they are dealing with.”

The main building at 10 Painters Mill Road was originally constructed in 1955 and served as a manufacturing facility for past 55 years. “It’s great to be using an existing building for this project. Using this as a distribution facility and headquarters is a tribute to this building.” Douron plans to incorporate many pieces of the existing building into their renovations. “This is an opportunity to be responsible to our environment. It is our intention to recycle or reuse as many materials as possible from the renovations.”

This new facility will also include a 9000 square foot showroom, the largest in the area for commercial, educational and library furnishings. “Furniture is a very touchy-feely product. Meaning, for example, folks want to see what they are buying. They want to sit in a chair to make sure it fits them. The showroom will also serve as a training center and meeting space which we intend to share with the business community.”

“This new facility will not only improve our visibility in the community, but will improve our brand as a whole.”
